Like many places we find ourselves in throughout life and are not sure how we got there, these thoughts often drift through my mind when I am filling out the various forms necessary to the running of the Club, or opening up statements from the FA sometimes containing referees reports quoting naughty words that our players have used.
I have been a Club Welfare Officer for five years & Secretary for four. I used to attend the monthly managers meetings and remember volunteering, but had no idea of the full responsibility of the rash offer to help. As with any job, it has its ups and downs, but with other committee members providing good support it does make life easier. Following in the footsteps of Dave Wright was a seriously daunting prospect, and to receive the 'Dave Wright Award' at this years presentation evening was very emotional.
Unlike Dave who was a Notts fan, my following has always been on the opposite bank of the river, and I have always followed 'The Forest', from being a teenager in The Trent End at the City Ground and then later to welcoming the European Champions home. More glory days to come I'm sure.
We became involved with football at BJ over 10 years ago when our eldest son was five & played for Steve Brown's team until he was 12. Our younger son now plays for the present U13s team, and also plays cricket for BJ.
