 BJ up for this one but where's wally ??

( Wally being the nickname for edwalton …I know I was born there ).

After an excellent recent run in which edwalton have shot up the table this was going to be a tough test for Bj as they looked to consolidate a mid table position

The game kicks off in the usual dire tempratures that the poplars seems to bring.

Ben has to bring off a save as Edwalton launch a couple of attacks,but as has been the usual for this season Bj soon get into their passing stride…The game is quite open and both teams look to make an early breakthrough,Isaac and Jack are involved in a good move and Jack fires a shot across the goal,Bob then puts a trademark pass into the feet of Isaac but his shot is deflected over…Bj do not have to wait much longer to open the scoring…a great pass from Jack to Macca sees the latter fire a shot into the bottom corner.Bj are starting to look good in possession and force three corners on the trot and from the latter Bob banks makes it 2-0 after the ball seemed to be bobbling around for ages.Another succession of corners from Bj come to nothing as Edwalton are struggling to get to grips with the surging Bj.Just before the break Edwalton go reasonably close with a couple of good efforts,but Bj go into the break in the driving seat.

2nd half

Bj are straight out the blocks in the second half and jack shoots but the gk saves.edwalton are given a free kick in a potentially dangerous position but adam blocks the danger,from the resulting corner Ben pulls off an excellent save.It isn”t long before Edwalton pull a goal back from  a corner and now this is a real test for Bj to hold on to the lead..Edwalton really start to put pressure on and the defence is under the cosh,Liam seems to be at the centre of everything at the back as he defends stoutly.Edwalton are really working hard to get the equaliser and Ben is called to make a great save on a one on one situation,then edwalton smack the post  as their attacking is becom ing more menacing.

Bj then launch an attack with jack proving to be a handful and a powerful shot brings an excellent save out of the Gk.Burton Joyce managed to hold on for an excellent victory against an inform side

This was a terrific display …some great passing and attacking in the first half followed up by some excellent defending in the second…a great end to the season ( and an excellent season it has been )…I look forward to carrying on my reporting and smarmy headlines next season…It has been an absolute pleasure watching every single one of the players improving week by week …It”s a credit to you boys ….and a massive credit should go to the Gruesome twosome who have trained and managed brilliantly and you both are a credit to this club and a credit to yourselves …Well done fella”s….CHEQUES MADE PAYABLE TO…..P N COUND !!!
Coaches Comment:  Not a game we needed to win but how hard we fought was fantastic.  Edwalton had a fantastic run of games after a slow start but we made them look like U8's in the first half.  Passing and moving was superb, we controlled everything and were unlucky not to have a greater margin at half time.  The second half was somewhat of a battle but showed we can do this when needed.  Great signs for next year.  Fantastic season and finishing 5th in a very competitive league is in Phil's words a "credit" to the boys.........
Final point from me really, great set of boys and parent and i wish you all the very best for next season where i will be stood (quitely (ish)) at the side of you!
