Report

A sting in the tail

Burton Joyce looked to continue there recent good run with a tough match against Greenwood Meadows

1st Half

Bj began the half in their usual style ,looking to attack straight away. But a couple of attacks come to nothing..

Bob is called into action to thwart the early threat greenwood were beginning to pose.

Jack soon has a shot that just crept wide and then Isaac had a great chance which the GK saved and the follow up from Jack went wide.Jo then had a shot That the Gk saved again ,,.it was really good pressure from Bj but they couldn't”t find that elusive finish.Bob then made a great tackle to stop Greenwood taking the lead. But it wasn’t long before Greenwood took the lead after good play from the Greenwood attacker .Greenwood then began to pile on the pressure as they looked for another goal and the Bj defence had to be very alert. It wasn”t long before BJ were back in it ..A lovely move between Isaac and Joseph saw the latter chip the keeper to make it 1-1…Greenwood then went back in front after a shot was parried by Ben into the path of the Greenwood player who slotted it home ..Just before the break Bj draw level for the second time ,a free kick on the edge of the penalty area was duly dispatched by “ the tank “ ( Joseph )

Ht Burton Joyce 2-2 Greenwood Meadows

2nd half

The second half started and another goal to Greenwood. With a shot that eluded Ben…Burton Joyce now had to find their rhythm and see if another equaliser was possible.A corner from Isaac just eluded Joseph..

Liam then makes a great tackle that stops another Greenwood attack.Isaac then showed his defensively qualities with a superb clearance off the line..Isaac then had an opportunity to equalise but the ball went wide.Alec then has to be on his guard but he defended extremely well.Jack had another chance only to see the ball go wide..Bj were pressing but the equaliser would not come .Jack and Bob then both came close but it was not going to be Bj “s day

Full Time …Burton Joyce 2-3 Greenwood Meadows.

Coaches Comment:

Great to get back into the game on 2 occasionsStanding up to a team with what can only be described as overly vocal towards our players is something the boys will have to get used to.  To their credit the boys concerned handles themselves with respect and are a credit to us & thier parents, unfortunately this type of behaviour will be more apparent as they get older and the dreaded testosterone kicks in.  In the future some will stand tall other will faulter (remember most are only 9 after all) but they will grow as individuals and need to learn help each other out if these incidents happen, enough said lets focus on the positive: Against a team who were less able and more physical we held our own and our football got us back into the game.  Some better finishing on the day and getting a lead against any side who bullies is always an advantage as sure heads would have dropped.  Again we moved players out of position and still managed to passed well and in my opinion played good enough to win but...................
